IM app Yup! raises $500 K in seed funding

Gurgaon based Instant Messaging App Yup! has raised a $500K seed funding round led by Arun Khanna, chairman of Olive Telecom, and Harsh Khanna, test lead at HTC, VC Circle reported.

Yup!, which competes another popular India-developed IM app Hike, was launched in June in this year. According to app founders, Yup! has already witnessed over 2 Lakh downloads since its launch. The app is currently available on Android Platform only, but the company plans to launch its iOS iteration soon.

Instant Messaging App Startup Yup! Secures USD 500K in Seed Funding

Gurgaon based Nucleus Research, the company which created the instant messaging app Yup!, has secured an amount of USD 500,000 in a seed funding round from Arun Khanna, chairman of Olive Telecom and Harsh Khanna, test lead at HTC.

The startup was founded in June 2014 by engineers Tushar Malhotra and Yogesh Huja, as according to a VCcircle report.

Yup! is a mobile messaging app which can be used to express opinions. The key features of the app include one click messaging, which translates to urgent paging and saves time. The user interface is colourful with options like choosing various themes and sounds.

We’ve already discussed before how pointless the Yo app was and even though the app has seen some new features like the ability to send links, start Hashtags and follow third-party services, the idea of just ‘Yoing’ people borders on lame.
